Sea Battle 1.0

Founded back in ’96, Reliable Software is a company that wants to prove software applications can indeed be reliable. The company’s main product is Code Co-op, an affordable, easy-to-use, robust code management system. But we are not going to focus on the company’s flagship product here. What we are going to focus on is Sea Battle, a fun game created by the 4-men team at Reliable Software (Bartosz Milewski, Debbie Ehrlich, Wieslaw Kalkus, Piotr Trojanowski)

As the team at Reliable Software explained, they came up with Sea Battle in their time off. While compiling large projects, they made an exercise in Windows32 programming and came up with Sea Battle.

There are several bits and pieces you are going to like about this piece of software. First of all you are going to like that the software weighs in next to nothing. The download weighs in at some 200KB; at such a lightweight download size, it should only take a moment for the download to complete (even on a less than spectacular internet connection).

The second thing you are going to like is the fact that Sea Battle does not need to be installed. What you download from the web is an archive – inside the archive there’s the Sea Battle Application. Simply extract the application from the archive and run it to launch Sea Battle. The fact that Sea Battle doesn’t have to be installed also means it is portable. Put it on an USB stick for example and take it with you no matter where you want to go.

Here’s one other thing you are going to like about Sea Battle: it is freeware. This means you can use the application for as long as you want without having to pay a dime.

What can you do with Sea Battle? The game is a take on the traditional Battleships game. In Sea Battle you play a game against the computer. You place your ships on the board, then start playing. You take one shot, the computer takes one shot.

Sea Battle is a fun, free game that doesn’t have to be installed.
